Caught Shoplifting Three Weeks Ago, Haven't Received a Civil Demand Letter
My question involves criminal law for the state of:
I was caught shoplifting at Kohls about three weeks ago, they took me into the back office, took my picture, had me sign some papers and told me I would be receiving a civil demand letter in the mail 3-7 days after the incident. But it has been three weeks and I haven't received anything. I' misplaced somewherem worried that it might have gotten lost or something. The LP officer stayed if I didn't comply with the letter, it would go straight to the police and files would be charged. Should I contact the LP to make sure I get ther letter because I wouldnt want the police to show up at my front door to arrest me. Am I overreacting, should I be more patient?
I have read a familiar thread on this forum and the person received the letter like a week later.
Please help me!
Re: Caught Shoplifting Three Weeks Ago, Haven't Received a Civil Demand Letter
Kohl's sends your information to the attorneys that handle their Civil Demand process. They then enter it into their system and the letter is then sent. The process is different for every retailer. There is not a set standard of time.
