    Civil Recovery Shoplifting Notice
My question involves criminal law for the state of: california.

I was caught shoplifting today at walmart. The total amount of the merchandise was of around $21. Police was not involved. They gave me some copies about the Ca Civil recovery statute. They told me a letter would be mailed by their lawyers and that there would be a fine I would have to pay. The fine would consist of the price of the merchandise charged several times plus any losses and costs of the security.

My questions are: Around how much will the fine be? Can they charge me for the loss and security, although they did recover the items? Since I am from Mexico, will I have any record or any problems when I am crossing the border?

    My questions are:

Around how much will the fine be? Not less that $50, nor more than $500. I would expect $500.

Can they charge me for the loss and security, Yes, that is part of what the Civil Penalty/Civil Demand is for.

Although they did recover the items? Yes

Since I am from Mexico, will I have any record or any problems when I am crossing the border? No, unless you arrested or get a conviction.
