Pleading and Court Advice
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Wyoming
I was recently cited for shoplifting $37 worth of merchandise from Kmart. I have a court date and I had consulted with an attorney who told me to plead not guilty and then call the DA's office before the next court date to see if I can get probation for 6 months and then if I don't get in trouble in that set time that the case will be dismissed. This is my first offence ever, I don't even have a driving record. Is what the attorney told me accurate?
Re: Pleading and Court Advice
It sounds like good advice,1st time offenders are offered a diversion programs in some courts,it would save you from a conviction. Plead not guilty and see if something is offered,I would ask the court if it's possible to get a pd for this charge.
