Step-Mom is Taking Child to the Doctor

My question involves public health law in the State of: Missouri

I am a mother of 3 kids as well as divorced. My ex husband is remarried. He is letting his new wife take my kids to the doctor. However my youngest has breathing issues, she has a nebulizer at home just for the many issues throughout the year, he knows nothing ofnher medical issues or medicines, never took her or my others to the doctor. But heis letting hisbnew wife take them, as well as recommend medicines to give her. Is she allowed to do this? We have joint custody with the childens physical address being with me. They go to them every other wknd. I am concerned about my child as she is on her breathing machine now. Please point me to where I need to go. Thanks

If dad is allowing his wife to care for his children during his periods of possession, I see no problem, nor is there a law prohibiting him from doing so. I'm sure your mom has recommended medications to give your child. You surely don't see a problem with that, do you?

I'm in Arizona so things may be different. I am a step mom and take my step son to the doctor when hes down here, which is only every other weekend/holiday/summers. My husband just wrote a letter releasing me to treat his son. I don't see an issues with it? His mom takes him as well but we like second opinions as the information she gives us is never quiet what the real story is.

We do have joint custody. My daughter has breathing issues. She has been on a nebulizer since she was 8 months old. She is now almost 3. Her dad knows NOTHING of her issues, or medications. So this worries me that he is letting his new wife take my child to the doctor and telling them to change her meds around, when she or the father know NOTHING about her conditions or her medicines. I am just concerned for the safety of my child.

And are the physicians changing her medicines?

LOL...No I am not exaggerating...I wish I was. He knows nothing about her condition...when she is on medicine he just says write it down how to give it so I will know. He has NEVER taken any of our kids to the doctor. They had taken her to a different doctor in the clinic that does not know much about her condition as well. I honestly wish I was exaggerating, because it is sad. sorry it took so long to reply!

It sounds like you are the negligent one. If it is such a danger for the child to be with others, due to her medical issues, you are either blowing them out of proportion or are a negligent parent for not completely informing dad. I agree, it is sad you are trying to control your children to their medical detriment.

Might be an idea to thank her for taking such good care of your child.
