Caught Shoplifting at Apple Store

Hi,
I was recently caught stealing from the apple store. I had stolen about 10 iphone cases off of the shelves the previous weekend and was selling them at school. My "business" at school was quite popular so I decided to steal more the upcoming weekend. I walked right into the store and went right over to shelves with the cases. I guess i looked somewhat suspicious as i looked around the store to see if anyone was watching me. I guess an employee picked up on this as she asked me if i needed help with anything. I said i didnt need any help and was just looking around. While she was not looking, I proceeded to put 4 cases in a bag that I had brought in the store to put the cases in. I made a second go, and took 3 more cases, and the woman who had been suspicious of me must have saw me. I took one more case to carry in my hand to look like I was going to buy it. As I started to move to a different part of the store, she flagged me down and asked if I wanted her to ring up the case in my hand. I said, "no thanks, i'm still thinking about buying it." She replied, "well what about the ones in the bag?" I started to freak out for a moment but calmly opened up my bag as she removed all of the cases. She told me to leave the store, so I walked right out. She did not record any of my personal information but i am wondering if the store will take any other actions. Will they look at the cameras and tell the police? Will they make my failed theft an instructional video for what to do if you see a shoplifter? I am only 17 so i am technically not an adult so I am not quite sure what will happen. Is everything over, or will they investigate further?

you have just been given a second chance at life as a non-criminal. It's up to you to decide whether you learned a lesson or not.


Nothing is going to happen. A lot could have happened so you should feel blessed that they didn't call the police. Hopefully you will take this second chance and not make the same stupid mistake again.

They probably had you on camera from the previous week and your photo was on display by the cash register for all the clerks to see. So, I am pretty sure you were spotted shortly after entering the store the second time. Try a different line of work. The third time you may not be so fortunate.

Hope their system does not log/identify your phone info or they may come for you anyway. At 17, stealing for resale, might get you charged as an adult.

The next time you try, this is what can happen.

You can be arrested.
You can face serious fines. Ever see that sign in WalMart that says "Shoplifting is not a prank, a thrill, or a joke, it's a crime and can result in several thousands of dollars of fines"....they are not kidding. Not to mention the attorney fees (another $1500+)

So if you think stealing a few thing is worth a few thousand dollars and a permanent criminal record.....
