    Difficulty Applying for Unemployment
.So I kept seeing this EDD insurance being cut off my checks for 5 years .For the 1st time I have to ask EDD help . I began by filing an online claim like a week ago . Then , called this # 8003005616 ,to follow up on an online claim made w/ EDD CA.
9/10 voice prompts dead end in verbiage or recorded information- as if we dont know. I finally found one prompt that cd potentially get me a rep- and I got the message "We are too busy we cant pick up the phone now..try later"
This happened more than 4-5 times. I am so sick. There is no unemployment insurance office to correspond with. When I filed a jobless claim it did not ask me direct deposit info.
If you have some exp doing this ..can you tell me
--There is NO PLACE on EDD.CA.gov where I can input the claim # to see what has happened to it - from what I made of the website. If otherwise , can someone point me to the right place to check claim status
-- How to find a way - talking to some person out there
-- At what phase of the claim do you supply direct deposit info.
--I already went to EDD.ca.gov and used that online tool to file a claim and I have a claim #. No one called me so far. What does this mean ?

    Thanks

Re: California EDD Worse Than Ww2 Soup Kitchens , Except That I Kept Paying Them for
Out of sheer curiosity, do you actually have any experience with WW2 soup kitchens?

Outside of that - you only made a claim a week ago, correct?

Exactly how fast do you expect them to act?

With all the people applying for UI benefits, it's going to take at least a little while to get to your claim.

Here's a link (if you haven't seen it already) re contacting UI Ca.

I don't know ....I am just asking ppl to share, the shall I say ,"common or standard" exp. of filing a claim.
Here is what happens ..it takes ya-da long ...and then they will ...ya-da-ya .
reg that 1st Q ..if I have exp. ...you don't need to have an exp to use an expletive, that may befit a certain service.
I got a tax bill from IRS for some $1000+ and I had to contend it based on facts . At that time - everyone is available to answer your call. They even have the nice facility to call you back , once its your turn... in circumstances where it is "my turn" and when its "their turn" ...they "turn around" and show you the back. I thought they'd have field offices , just like DMV and mistakably went to a Disability insurance office @ Ruff St. After all the wait I got news that they shut down all unemployment offices and kept this "bouncer" on the 800 line.
Whatever- I just hope the claims turns out fine and wanted to check if there's something I shd be doing that I had'nt
thanks for your help Betty and Dominique
    God Bless

The IRS was formed to take your money. They are happy to make the process easy. Giving you money is not such a desirable prospect to the government. If it was, they would just stack it on the courthouse lawn for pickup.

Dont know if you will agree with me but they are making a conscious effort to reduce the unemployment numbers : Not long ago , they changed the very definition of what unemployed means. Previously if you did not have a job and could work otherwise - you were considered unemployed . Now you have to be part of labor force to be counted as unemployed and to achieve the former , you have to be actively looking around for work for last 3-4 weeks or something like that ( dept of labor stats has the exact defn). In other words if you are of the kind who just got frustrated finding work and quit searching than you are NO LONGER UNEMPLOYED in the statistics . This happened a Long time ago.
NOW whats happening is they are shutting down the unemployment field offices and keeping a bouncer on that 800 #.....it strongly discourages any benefits from coming down readily ....unemployment claims go down....HURRAH !!!! we did it again ..Barb Box , Jerry Brown and team ..( I guess the same wd apply if we had reds sitting over us ) ..and GUESS WHAT comes out .... DOW JONES Reached a 4 yr high ! w/ unemployment numbers coming down to 8.83 ( national avg) ...really ?..come on....I am not sure if all that's happening is the glass getting smaller from inside with the floor moving up gradually or we really have more soup in the bowl.
