    Filing a Mechanics Lien but No Records Found in Virginia's DMV
    My question involves an auto loan or repossession in the State of: Virginia.

    Hello everyone I have done some extensive research, but can't seem to get a straight answer to this question.

    So here goes;

    I have a vehicle which was left on the property, I was asked to run a typical vehicle diagnostic check at approx $90.00 and it was determined the owner had run this vehicle into the ground.
    The car needs a new motor and the owner has never called or returned in over 90 days.

    I charge $45.00 a day in Storage fees so by this time this owner is in debt to my shop well over $4050.00

    Sad part is all of this is over a simple $90.00 fee.

    So w/o further delay, Here's my question.

    I have a good understanding of what needs to be done as I have done this several times. This time though something new has stopped me in my tracks.

    I went to DMV for transcripts of last owner or lien holders and found that there is no information in the VA DMV system.

    So now what????

    Can I just wait the 30 days and appply for the title?

    Do I need to do anything special? What needs to be done here?

    Please help I need this space on my lot desperately right now for new customers I am loosing.

    Is this an out-of-state vehicle? If the plates aren't Virginia plates, try that state. If they are, then it sounds like the plates are from a different vehicle.
