How to Make Your Landlord Renew Your Lease
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Texas
So a few days ago I went to tell my landlord (well, actually the property manager who happens to be the daughter of the landlord since we're in college) that I wanted to renew my lease for the upcoming year. She said that she was sorry, but she had already promised the place to new people as she wasn't aware that I would be staying another year (I had told her that when I moved in). I have paid all my rent early or on time and I've kept the place spotless. Nothing has been broken.
Is there anything I can do? This house is perfect for me to live in because of the location and condition of the house. I do not want to give it up. With five months the other people would have more than enough time to find a new place to live. Are there any laws against this or anything particular I can do? I'm kind of desperate. I've had to move three times within the past two and a half years due to room mates changing and I have a ton of stuff.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Re: When I Tell the Landlord I Want to Renew My Lease 5 Months Before It Ends She Say
What does your lease say about renewals?
She is not obligated to renew your lease at the end of the lease term. At the same time, if she intends not to renew at the end of the lease term, she needs to give you sufficient notice (usually 30 - 60 days).
