Girl Who Broke Her J1 Terms Wants To Marry Me
I am from and still live in Puerto Rico. My girlfriend from Dominican Republic whom I dated for 2 years suddenly went crazy; she met a man online and married him two days after arriving to USA while on a J1 visa !!! (Note: her J1 visa did not have a 2 year Requirement)
Instead of reporting directly to her sponsor/employer (Universal Studios Orlando), she traveled directly to Colorado and married this man 2 DAYS AFTER her arrival. She was then given an ultimatum to report to her sponsor/employer. Both her and her then husband moved to Orlando to comply with such request but once more she ditched her sponsor/employer and they both moved back to Colorado. She did not even complete the 3 days of orientation required by the employer/sponsor.
Once back in Colorado, she used her J1 to work elsewhere; then she left him after 3 months of marriage and went back to the Dominican Republic just a few days before her J1 visa expired. She has also filed and completed her divorce in the Dominican Republic. She never heard back from her ex either,, whether or not he filed his own divorce or what.
Now, she wants to marry me. She has called the sponsor's office in Dominican Republic and they have confirmed the fact that the sponsor's office in Orlando reported her "no show" to immigration officials.
Again, I am from Puerto Rico and I do not know whether or not she will ever be able to come back on any type of visa to the United States (including Puerto Rico) after her crazy summer in USA...
Please assist :)

Re: Girl who broke her J1 terms wants to marry me, in Puerto Rico
You don't indicate that she broke any laws or overstayed any visas, so assuming that's the case it shouldn't be a problem.
Re: Girl who broke her J1 terms wants to marry me, in Puerto Rico
Here are the facts:
1. Early this year she traveled to Florida on a J1 visa.
2. Her J1 visa was issued for 4 months without a 2 year requirement.
3. She was supposed to work for her sponsor (Universal Studios) for those 4 months.
But INSTEAD...
5. She did not report to her sponsor/employer.
6. She immediately took another flight to Colorado and got married within 2 days of arrival to a US citizen she met online/chatroom.
7. Three weeks later she is contacted by the sponsor and they gave her an extension/deadline to report to work.
8. Her then husband took her there for her to complete her J1 program, but she only attended 2 days of employee orientation and once again followed her then husband back to CO.
9. She was reported as a no show to Immigration.
10. Once back in Colorado, she worked there for almost 2 months using her J1 visa.
11. Three months into the marriage and living in the USA she quit her marriage and left the US. She went back to the DR before the expiration date on her visa.
12. She filed for and completed her divorce in the DR. She has not heard from her husband ever since she left (whether or not he filed his own divorce).
13. I've known her for some years and I've acknowledged forgiven her mistakes.
14. We want to get married.
15. What are the chances of convincing the US consulate in the Dominican Republic that all her previous actions were a mistake and thus be able to apply for either a Fiancee visa (K1 ?) or a Spouse visa (K3 ?)...
Thank you in advance for your promt attention to this matter.
