    Building Inspector and Illegal Entry
I had a building inspector walk in my home without even knocking. He walked around and took pictures. I am in the wrong for not getting my electrical permit but a city offical cannot just walk into my house. I'll pay my fines but I want him to be reasonable. He said I needed to tear out all of my drywall. To help leverage the situation, what's the penalty for him violating my fourth amendment right?

Your damages would appear to be $0, so that may well be what you would recover in a lawsuit.

Give us enough facts such that we know what happened.

In fact, building inspectors are given pretty broad hand in entering property to do inspections. You have no claim either about the violations you committed NOR the fourth amendment.
Now if he found some evidence of criminal activity, you *MIGHT* be allowed to able to argue for that evidence to be excluded at any trial that results.
