Can Parents Refuse to Let an 18-Year-Old Move Out
My question involves juvenile law in the State of:
I am seventeen years old and will be 18 in less than a month. I have planned to move out on my birthday due to multiple encounters of parental instability but my father insists that he can keep me here until I graduate this May. Is this legal in Nevada or does he need a court order to do so? I have a safe, stable home to go to that is not out of state.
I have tried to research this topic but have come across multiple points of view.
IT IS LEGAL

IT IS NOT LEGAL
-"Emancipation by Statute
When a teenager reaches the age of 18, he does not have to petition the court to make his emancipation official. It occurs automatically, along with the rights that come with it. An 18-year-old does not need his parents’ permission to move out of their home. If his parents don’t live together and a custody order is in effect, it no longer binds him. He can live with whichever parent he prefers." -Click here for source

Re: Is It Legal in Nevada for Parents to Refuse Moving Privilages to Child of 18
Until you are 18, you live where your parents say you can live. Once you hit 18 in NV, you can leave and never look back. Understand also that at 18, your parents have no legal obligation to provide any level of support, nor can they be forced to produce records such as one might need to obtain financial aid for school.
