Petty Theft of a Dog

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California
i help save dogs i helped rescue a dog from shelter, under animal rescue group, had permission from head of rescue to pull transport out of shelter. Helped get dog placed in a good home, now rescue group is claiming i stole the dog. Viscous attacks on me on FB, ruined any reputation I have built w dog rescue. Pre trial is in a couple of days. Any chance of it being thrown out?
