How to Stay as a Tenant Without Paying Rent
My question involves an eviction in the state of: Ohio
Here are the Facts Putting aside a long story. Living in the basement of the friends I Pay them each week as side money to live there. They are getting marred and told me I have till Feb 9th to leave. I currently have no job and surviving on unemployment and it's going to be close to find a place to stay and a job before my time to get out. I asked to stay there my remainder rent free to save up money and they said no, so here is my Question. All of our Conversations are saved through texts and Facebook msgs and I've been living here for almost 6 months now. What are there rights, if i decide to stay till Fed9th and not pay them to save up to get on my feet. And what steps should i take i insure they don't get smart and try to change the locks as soon as they find out I'm not going to pay then the rest of my stay to look out for my own neck. My understanding is that Once they give me a Date to leave no matter what the circumstance is i have till then to get out. Also It's a house, it's not an apartment she owns the house i believe and she is making payments on it and I'm not tied to anything legally to live in the house. Help me out guys, What are my options here.
Re: How to Stay as a Tenant Without Paying Rent
If you don't pay rent to your landlord, your landlord can evict you.
There's no magic trick we can show you that will prevent your friends from getting tired of you and changing the locks. If they do, you can try suing them for unlawfully evicting you and see what happens in court.
