Can I Go to Jail for Talking to a 10 Year Old Girl

My question involves criminal law for the state of California.

Ok she is one of my friends cousins and i have her as a friend on facebook. Ok and i don't have her number or anything and i don't even talk to her at all, remember she is 10 years old, and on facebook i stupidly wrote something dumb on her wall, She said something like lets text on her wall and i stupidly wrote lets sext. And she wrote "what don't you mean text" and i was just laughing and i wrote "yea text sorry"but i was just joking and i didn't ask for her number but now her mom got mad and wants to call the cops on me, ok i never talked to her in a sexually way or any images at all, nothing. it was just this one stupid comment thats it and we never talked again. Can i go to jail or can i get charged with something by saying this? I just turned 18 and i'm still immature.

If that's all you wrote, and have done nothing else, then I do not see that a crime was committed.

If stupidity was a crime, you would get 10 years.

Hopefully the father or an uncle don't come knocking on your door.

Zero. If this is the extent of your faux-pas:

"i stupidly wrote lets sext."

Then there was no crime. None. Zip. Zero.

But there does seem to be a Facebook TOS violation on their part...........isn't the age restriction for FB registration 13 yrs old?

While you get the standing "WTF were you thinking?" award nom for 2012, mom definitely gets an equal nod for letting a 10 yr old on any sort of "social network"!

My 11-year old second cousin in on FB. So is her mom. Mom monitors her friends, etc., very carefully.
