Can I Be Emancipated at the Age 15
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Kansas; I am 15 years old, I will turn 16 in April and i was wondering if i could be emancipated now or would i have to wait till I'm 16. I want to be emancipated in the fact that my step-dad has a criminal record for hitting his Ex-wife. He has been abusive since i was 7 years old with my mom. Can I be emancipated in this case?

You do not qualify for emancipation.

You are not living independently nor are you supporting yourself. Please, read other threads about what emancipation is for.

Your step-dad's criminal record (he hit his ex-wife? How does that impact you exactly) is not a factor here unless he's abusing you. If you're in a dangerous situation you can call CPS and/or 911 if it's urgent, or you can contact your school counselors.

Or, you can have your other parent file for custody.

You cannot be emancipated at 15 and based on what you have posted you cannot be emancipated at 16 either.
