Inmate Was Attacked in Prison
My question involves criminal law for the state of: California
Question: The inmate is someone I know. He was brutally attacked and slashed. He's filed something called a 602, which is, I think, an incident report. But, what now? Should he retain counsel? He was the victim not the perpetrator and told me it's all on camera.

Re: Inmate Was Attacked in Prison
Just like a police report, an inmate report works the same way...the prison will investigate, submit evidence including the camera images to the prosecutor, and ask the state to bring additional charges against the inmate who committed the crime against him. Unless your friend is charged with some crime related to the incident, he doesn't need counsel as the victim.

Thanks. Much appreciated.
