Re: Shoplifting from Walmart
Roll the dice...
They have cameras to get the plate, when security does not catch the thief before he/she leaves.
The next knock on the door might be just for you!!!
Re: Shoplifting from Walmart
Hard to say...it would depend on if the greeter made note in a log of the sensor alarm going off. A log would show what time, what door....LP may look at the tape and see.
While they might not do anything.....they may also tape your pic up in the LP Office and by employee time clocks "If you see this person come in, contact LP immediately....".
Re: Shoplifting from Walmart
That seems about right. It seems as if the sensors went off regardless. A gentleman in front of me at the home and garden exit (where i exited the store) had purchased a couple flower pots and it went off for him as well.
While this may not mean anything, the lady in home and garden saw what I had in my walmart bag (dvds) and told me to "have a good night!" As I left, so I don't know if she was suspicious of me or not, but you never know.
What is the best advice I can get about this whole matter, other than "don't do it again"?
Re: Shoplifting from Walmart
Stay away from Walmart and don't answer the door for a year.
Re: Shoplifting from Walmart
I will say "Don't do it again". I'm sure you are a bundle of nerves right now. So you can imagine how much worse it feels when LP does catch you and calls the cops.
Advice for now:
- Stay out of WalMart, Sam's...and other local locations for a while. I'd recommend avoiding all within an hour of you. Many stores have "traveling" LP - they don't work just the store you got busted at, but other WalMarts in a certain radius (hour drive).
- If the cops come knocking, tell them you will not speak without an attorney present. Glance through the yellow pages now, in case that happens.
Re: Shoplifting from Walmart
Whatever you do, don't get nervy and bold and think that you now know how to beat the system. Stay out of that place for a good long time and keep reminding yourself of what the worst case scenario could have been.
Re: Shoplifting from Walmart
Well, the thing is I was not busted. Wasn't even questioned, neither inside the store or out in the parking lot. And it didn't look like anybody followed me outside or was looking at my car as I left.
While I can never be too sure, I feel like the odds might be shifted in my favor, but only slightly. I am a bundle of nerves right now and am very concerned.
I have even contemplated taking the dvds back, not returning for money, just like placing them outside the store for an employee to find. Smart or dumb idea?
Re: Shoplifting from Walmart
Is that so the parking lot camera gets a second chance!!! Baaaaaddddd idea.
Re: Shoplifting from Walmart
Dumb idea. WalMart has cameras in their parking lots. You just add to their evidence.
You want to really make amends....place money in an envelope...type up a letter....address it to Store Manager....no return address, no signature.
Remember....those camera eyes are watching you in stores....recording you....and tapes can be reviewed later. Your pic can be posted next to employee time clocks, and placed in WalMarts system....
