F1 Visa Rejected Under 214 B
My sister's F1 visa was rejected under 214 B. She intends to attend a community college for an associate degree and travel back to India after that. She's got i20 from a very reputed community college in bay area which has the best transfer rate to UC berkeley and Cal state universities. The visa officer asked her only one question - "How did you find out about the college?" She answered through research on the internet- which is true. My parents have more than enough money to sponsor her education. I am working in the US on OPT currently. We have no other family in US. What could be possible reasons for denial? Could it be because of a community college or because I am here in US? What are her chances of getting a visa in the second attempt with the same i20? How long should she wait before reapplying? Thanks!
Re: F1 Visa Rejected Under 214 B
Since you have been in the US on F-1 visa, her response while it may have been true is not reasonable to a visa officer. Very few Indians return to India with an associates degree. Her chances would improve once you return home; if you do not intend to do so at the completion of your OPT, you should understand the reason she was denied.
