Getting F1 Visa with a Criminal Record As a Sexual Abuse Perpetrator
Dear Friends
When i was a male juvenile (17 years-old at 2002) I perpetrate a sex crime over a child in an African country where i was born there and for one day i went to jail bechase of this crime. i.e. i convicted for this foolish sex crime. now, after around 9 year, I'm really ashamed of that behavior that i had before. I'm married right now.
however, my academic records is great and many professors from US universities accepted me as a phd student, i don't know if i can get any admission / F1 Visa or not.
please kindly help me.
Re: Getting F1 Visa with a Criminal Record As a Sexual Abuse Perpetrator
Having worked in a court house records department for some time, I did see cases where people who were applying to medical school who had a single criminal case in their juvenile history were able to get it expunged from their record. An attorney could give more detail.

Consult a US immigration attorney with the specifics.
I would expect that if the university offering you the assistantship knew of your history, the offer would be recinded.; US universities are justifiably paranoid about having convicted sex offenders on campus.
Remember, you MUST answer truthfully to your criminal history.
