Hi,
my children attend US colleges on G4 visas as I am employed by UN in USA. I am transferring out of USA mid-way through their studies. How do they change their status from G4 to an F1 visa whilst staying at college? I think they have either 30 or60 days to stay in US legally from the date I cancel their G4 visas? Any help very gratefully received.
They apply for the F1 visas and, once they have the necessary endorsement from the Department of State Visa Office, petition for change of status (I-539). It makes sense for them to do so earlier, rather than later, to avoid any issues with delay. Their college(s) may have staff that can assist them, as enrolled students, with immigration issues.
