Does Marriage Result in Emancipation
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: New Hampshire
I am 16 years old, I am pregnant and I am legally married. My mother signed the papers of our marriage. I have read online that once I became married I was emancipated. I want to know if this is true. Can I now move out of my mothers house and be on my own since I am married.
Re: Does Marriage Result in Emancipation
Per legal aid, lawful marriage results in emancipation.
Re: Does Marriage Result in Emancipation
I'm sorry, so does this mean yes I am legally emancipated and am allowed to move out with my son?
Re: Does Marriage Result in Emancipation
If you cannot even understand the answer to the question, how are you going to support your son?
Re: Does Marriage Result in Emancipation
If the place I am living in is unsafe for a baby and I want to move out with my husband I can move out. Correct? I now New Hampshire doesn't have emancipation but I read everywhere that I am automatically emancipated once my mom signed me off to get married. Please help.

Emancipation is a term which means becoming free of control by another. Usually, when people talk about emancipation, they are talking about the emancipation of a minor. A minor is said to be emancipated when s/he becomes independent from parents or guardians.
In New Hampshire there is no law or rule allowing a minor to seek emancipation. A child here is considered to be emancipated at the age of 18. A child will also be considered to be emancipated when the child marries or enters the armed forces or military academy. These things would require the parent or guardian’s permission before the child turns 18.
