Misrepresentation of Residency - Is My Divorce Still Legal
My question involves a marriage in the state of:
I was divorced 10 years ago. My ex and i decided to fill out the paper work ourselves and get one of those "quickie" divorces. Contacted a lawyer advertised in a paper, and the proceedings went through. However, after all this time, we both noticed that the lawyer was from massachusettes, and listed us both as residents in the county where the lawyer resided. We have never nor ever planned to live in that state. We married in PA and the filing and divorced was granted in our state. However, the listing of us on the decree and on the documents states we were residents of a different state at the time of the proceedings. Is this still legal even with this mistake?? thank you!!!!

Unless your divorce judgment has been set aside, it remains valid. You appear to be describing a clerical error, and that you did in fact meet the jurisdictional requirements for your state, so between that and the passage of time it's difficult to imagine that anybody will either move to have or succeed in having your divorce judgment set aside.
