Re: To Help My Girlfrend Get Emancipated
You've done absolutely no reading here, have you? :(
Because emancipation is not and never was meant as a means for children to escape from their homes; it's meant to enable minors who, through no fault of their own, are in a situation where they need have the power switched over to their name and things of that nature. And, to qualify she would need to show that she's capable of FULLY supporting herself financially. Being able to pay full market rent, utilities, food, clothing, transportation, health insurance.
I'm guessing she can't do that.
Re: To Help My Girlfrend Get Emancipated
yes i have done the reading but i dont read very well that is y im on here but thank for being an ass
Re: To Help My Girlfrend Get Emancipated
And this is why children can't get emancipated easily. 99.9% of them simply aren't mature enough.
You're welcome.

Read this and tell us how she satisfies all of the required elements for emancipation.
If she goes to court and lays out a plan that amounts to, "I'm completely unable to support myself, but I'm going to shack up with my adult boyfriend who will support me," Dogmatique is entirely correct. So reassure us that's not the plan, and tell us what the plan is.
Re: How To Help My Girlfriend Get Emancipated
Well, in the state of Louisiana its very easy to get emancipated. My mom brought my sister to a lawyer to get emancipated and it took no longer than 10 minutes. When she did that she had to bring a witness. But my sister was 17 but in Baton Rouge, La. When a child is 17 he/she could leave there parents house on his/her own and when he/she is 18 the parent could put him or her out. So tell your girlfriend it really wont be long if she cant afford the emancipation process.

Oh good grief.
I can't even count the ways in which this post is so inaccurate. I can GUARANTEE that Mommy didn't bring sissy to a lawyer and 10 minutes later sissy was emancipated.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
But more to the point, what on EARTH does Louisiana have to do with the OP's state?

Believe it or not, West Virginia is not a Parish of the State of Louisiana. It's a different state with different laws. No state other than Louisiana permits emancipation by notarial act, and even if it were we have no reason to believe that this child's mother wants her to be emancipated.
