Getting an Early Discharge from Probation After Paying Off Restitution
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Louisiana
I pled out to a few charges on April of 2010 since then I have completed all special conditions of my probation stayed out of trouble and paid over 23k worth of restitution I still owe on court cost but I am working on paying it off. My sentence was also covered by automatic expungement so inwont have a record once I'm realesed Now that I've paid all my restitution my po said I can file a petition to get released early I am wanting to move to Texas asap for a new start and get out of this small town where everyone knows my past and holds it aginst me what do I. Need to put in the petition to the judge? I can't afford a attorney to do it for me so I'm stuck trying to do it my self

I expect that your probation officer means that you need to pay off all of your assessments including restitution. You can ask him to clarify. Although practices vary by state, if he agrees that you are a good candidate for an early discharge from probation, I would expect that he will initiate that process.

Restitution is paid 100% she said I am a good candidate but she won't start the process until I've been on probation for 50% of 5 years which is this time next year she did however say that if I submitted the petition she would not object to early release. So I'm gonna try to figure out how to write the petition and order The only thing I owe is 800 for court cost and I'm working on paying that as we speak
