Domestic Battery With Injury
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Indiana
The charges and Levels are:DOMESTIC BATTERY/MA
BATTERY W/INJURY MA
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CASE MD
Bond is: $5,500 XC
I need to know what all this means, How much time it carries and can Bond be made
Re: What Does It All Mean and What Can I Do
The accused's attorney should be able to explain it all.
Re: What Does It All Mean and What Can I Do
There is none at this time that's why I need information
Re: What Does It All Mean and What Can I Do
Most of those offenses can be charged as either a misdemeanor or a felony in Indiana, depending on circumstances; the biggest two factors being whether or not there was a child present, and if the accused has prior DV incidents. The extent of bodily injury also plays a role, but not as substantial as the other two factors. If any of the charges are at the class B felony level, then a sentence of between 20 and 50 years is on the table. If they charge at class C felony level, between 2 and 8 years in prison, if a class D felony, up to 3 years in prison, and any misdemeanor can land up to one year in the county jail. If the accused has 2 prior felonies already, then "habitual offender" rules kick in and another 30 years in prison can be heaped on top of the other charges, effectively turning a 3rd felony into a life sentence.
Of course these are only the POSSIBLE sentences, and sentences only come to pass after either a plea of guilt, or a finding of guilt by a judge or jury.
Bond is available, pending payment of the listed amount, otherwise it would say "NO BOND"

This is not legal advice, ok?
I am concerned by your user name and then your questions.
I am assuming this man hit you. And you're so in love you will go back to him. Don't do it....no matter how many apologies you get, it will happen again and again and again, and get much worse.
Re: What Does It All Mean and What Can I Do
y\\Yes and Yes I am in love with him. I am just tired and deserve respect and want to be appreciated and feel loved all over. No lies no being sneaky and be number 1 in his life. I am trying to figure out what to do because all my future life plans involves him. He means the world to me but I want more need more and deserve more from him. I am hurt sad and disappointed
Re: What Does It All Mean and What Can I Do
If the level of the damage he has done is as significant as the charges, what you want will not happen. You need to move on and get over him. If you cannot do that, you need to get counseling. You are not going to change him to meet your needs. He is not going to change to meet yours either.
Re: What Does It All Mean and What Can I Do
There's a lot of fish in the sea, but an abuser is always going to be an abuser. It's a lot more pleasant to heal emotional wounds than physical ones.
I'm probably the last person you should ask for romantic advice, but I know that someone who respects you will never hit you and someone who hits you will never respect you.

This needs to be stickied in every legal forum.
Heck, every forum everywhere.
