Caught Stealing From My Job
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan
I was caught stealing $300.00 from my job. When caught i confessed and paid the money back in full. They said they would press charges. An officer took my statement but didn't arrest me. I think I have a warrant out but am not sure. I have a clean record. I am wondering what I should do. What am I facing and what the chrages could be
Re: Caught Stealing From My Job
As you already know, as evidenced by the subject you picked, the most likely charge against you is embezzlement. A number of other charges are possible, but less likely - read the penal code and brainstorm possibilities, if you want.
Re: Caught Stealing From My Job
Should your soon to be former employer wish to prosecute, the DA will bring formal charges against you. You would do well to find a criminal defense attorney to assist you with your options. Your employer may or may not decide just to terminate your employment. Their call for now, but there will be consequences.

...and if they do terminate you, do not expect to collect Unemployment.....
