Given Pink Summons for Fare Evasion and Trespassing at PATH Station

I was able to find that trespassing (140.05) -- is a voilation under the NY penal law from the official Penal Law book codes.
I was unable to find information or the law under which Fare Evasion Section 6861 sub 4 falls into ?
Do you think I am better off taking the services of an Attorney to defend my case ?

Listen to Flyingron. These charges would constitute theft of services in Chicago, which would be a misdemeanor. In your state it is just an ordinance violation. That's just a fineable offense if I'm correct. In which case, like Ron said, it wouldn't show up on your record.

PThese are just fines and non criminal offense. Plead not guilty,u may have a moment to speak to a legal aide when they call your name. An acd is a realstic for atleast one of the charges. Sometimes they just dismiss a charge right out or offer an acd for one of them. Cop can be over zealous in giving out these summons and figure let the court handle it.

Chances are small of this coming up on backround check b.c both are non crimnal offense and you were never fingerprinted. Their always a chance it might pop up but its unlikely. My friend took a bus and didn't realize he couldn't use his metro card n was given a pink summons.

Get to court early and dress presentable,u go in to a big court room and your name is called. A lot of times some type of deal is offered their . You are given a chance to explain. If you plead not guilty they might have you come back a 2nd time.

I think he just paid a 75 or 100 dollar fine. When you go in to court ,their a separate room for the pink summons ,you basically sit down and wait for your name to be called. Their a post with a legal aide once you walk up to address the judge. Safe your reciept and try to explain to the judge what happen,he might cut you a break.

1. go to court house 2. go up stairs and wait on line sit down in the court room for the pink summons. 3. go sit down and wait until your name is called,plead not guiltily and explain your case. Like I said sometimes something is offered as your walking up to the post.

Since it's just a violation,I would go in person and see what is offered. Then you can always have a lawyer if you are called back a second time to further fight the case. The tickets will be about 200 dollars and lawyer gonna cost at least 500.
