Forgotten About Hot Check
My question involves criminal law for the state of: texas
I went to the county clerk and paid with a 22 dollar check. I did not know the check was gonna bounce. Cause I had money and got paid two days later. Well it turns out I didn't get paid and didn't for 2 months. So while fighting with my company who couldn't find my money. I got a letter that the check bounced. I was planning on paying it but between reporting my manager for inappropriate behavior and trying to get payed. It skipped my mind. Well I got a warrent. And arrested. I went the next morning after making bond and payed 75 which included the 22 and fees. I was told it was gonna be dismissed but hasn't been Yet. I was arrested Oct.3 my court day is nov 9. Is it really gonna be dissmesed i thought it would be already. What kind of punishment am i gonna get. I have never done anything wrong. Never even got a ticket
Re: Forgotten About Hot Check
It will likely be dismissed on your court date. It's unlikely that you'll face any further punishment, with the exception of possibly court costs. You should consult with an attorney in your area in any case, if only for reassurance. First consultation is usually free or very low cost.
