If I Get Help Through the State Will Ss Go After My Boyfriend for Cs
My question involves child support in the State of:MD
i'm five months pregnant and i'm with my child's father. my question is, i know that if you get help throught the state (food stamps, TCA, SSI, etc.) social services will go after the child's father for child support. will they go after my mine even though we're together?

Yeap. They certainly can/will.
Re: If I Get Help Through the State Will Ss Go After My Boyfriend for Cs
really? even though we're together ?he's not considered a custotial parent? if we got married, that's the only way they wont go after him?

Is he working? There's a reason for my question.

he was up until a few months ago. so no. he is looking though. i'm lucky i have such a goodjob. the town we live in is super small and not alot of career opps.

If you hurry up and get married, the State will not come after him for child support.
HOWEVER.
If you DO get married, you might find yourself ineligible for certain types of aid. You really need to sit down with him and weigh up your options.
(This is assuming that y'all do actually intend to stay together anyway - I'm not advocating getting married just for the financial benefits!)

we've been togeter for 8 years. i think we're almost ready for marriage :) and the only help i need/want is food stamps.can you get that in MD if you get married?

Yes, because it goes by your household income. The reason I asked about him working is that if he was, he might put your household over the "limit" for certain types of aid.
Go here and plug your numbers and see what it says :)
clicky clicky
Edited to add: Gosh, MD is super helpful when it comes to online things - you might want to go here to see if you qualify for other benefits, too.
