Dealership Misrepresented Equipment and Fuel Economy
My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Michigan
I purchase a 2007 Dodge Nitro last week. The car did not have a sticker designating the equipment and fuel economy. I asked the salesperson twice to give me the details. Both times he told me that the car has a navigation system and gets 32 mpg. I asked him to put a remote start on it and we had a deal. He agree to do that.
After signing for the car I was informed that they could not roll the remote start into the financing. I was disappointed but took the car anyway with plans to have one added. Within two days I suspected that the mileage I was told was incorrect. I looked it up on the internet and found I would be lucky to get 22 mpg with this vehicle. I also discovered it had no navigation system after searching for the option on the complicated touch screen system. It would not have been readily apparent to anyone whether it existed without much searching.
I made my needs for good fuel economy quite clear to the salesman. I feel he either lied or was misinformed. Either way I have a car whose gas I cannot afford.
I've visited the showroom and told the saleman and sent an email to the manager. I'd like to get a different car that meets my needs. Do I have legal recourse if they refused to help?
Re: Dealership Misrepresented Equipment and Fuel Economy
Not unless you received these assertions in written guarantee. You should have web searched "2007 fuel economy guide" prior to purchase.
Re: Dealership Misrepresented Equipment and Fuel Economy
Do you have anything in writing in relation to either mileage or the navigation system? Any other evidence?
When the dealership responded to you, did they agree that the salesperson made the representations and was mistaken about mileage and the navigation system? If not, what did they say?
