Fire Code Assembly Permit for Events or Concerts
My question involves real estate located in the State of: Oregon

I am hosting a large scale concert/event at a fairgrounds facility, and the building does not have a fire occupant load.

I have met with the fire marshall, and he gave me a occupant load based off the exiting of the venue and it is not very acceptable since the venue has multiple exits that are in compliance with fire code, and the building is total dead open space. The Fire Department is a city based department, but has authority over county properties in regards to fire ordinances.

He gave me a fire code assembly permit application, but I was not requred to fill it out or apply for a permit. My question is, what authority does he have if I DID NOT need to file for a permit. In other words, what auhority does he have at the event? This whole situation seems like a very big grey area.

    Thanks!

Check the fire prevention code for the unit of government at issue.

In other words find out the legal capacity or authority of the fire marshal?

    Thanks!
