Unemployment Insurance Application Form Answer
My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: NY
I'm trying to fill out the unemployment application form. I was laid off after 9 months working in NY. I was working in CA prior to that which I left the job to NY offer.
There is a question in the form which asks:
"Did you loose all your work during past 18 months due to lack of work?
If 'no', was your gross pay more than $2025 at your most recent job?"
I wanted to know what would be the answer to the first question and what would be the consequences whether I put 'yes' or 'no'.
Will that actually affect my eligibility for UI or its amount ?
I'd appreciate your response.
Re: Unemployment Insurance Application Form Answer
We don't know what the answer is. DID you lose employment during the past 18 months due to lack of work?
Regardless of what the affect of the answer will be, you need to answer it truthfully. Anything else would be fraud.
Re: Unemployment Insurance Application Form Answer
Thanks for the response. I have one more question regarding the application. Here is another application question:
-------------------
8. Under the law, benefits can only be paid to a claimant who is determined to be totally unemployed. In order to determine whether you are totally unemployed, we need to know if you will continue to receive any wages after 09/26/2011 and not be required to work. These wages do not include any pay you may receive for unused vacation or holiday accruals or work you performed prior to your last day. Will you continue to receive wages after **/**/2011 while not being required to work? Yes No
-->8a. If you answered ‘yes’ to question 8, would these wages stop if you started a new job?
------------------
I'm supposed to be paid for two weeks after my last date of work (which I consider in-lieu of notice). If I answer 'yes' to the question 8 then what is the answer to question 8a?
My impression of question 8a is if I'll be continuing to receive wages until I find a new job which is not the case.
Thanks.
Re: Unemployment Insurance Application Form Answer
I'm not going to play what-if games with you, especially since it's clear that you want to tailor your answers to get benefits that you may not be entitled to. Call the UI office and ask them what their questions mean.
Re: Unemployment Insurance Application Form Answer
Unfortunately their phone number doesn't direct to any live person. It is all automated system. They don't have any office location either.
I'm just trying to understand their question to put the right answer and I'm only trying not to sabotage my already bad situation with
incorrect answer.
Thanks for your response but you are not entitled to interpret my intention while you are not aware of it. My questions did not imply
what you are accusing me of either.
