Best and Worst States for Child Support
My question involves child support in the State of: All
Does anyone know the best and worst states for child support calculations? It seems like California has a calculator that actually takes more variables into account when calculating child support.
Re: Best and Worst States for Child Support
What's the purpose of the question?
Re: Best and Worst States for Child Support
Curiosity. I plugged my information into the CA child support calculator and was surprised to see the difference was 25% less than what I pay now. I pay child support in NC. Thats a huge difference. In my opinion, the system needs to be federally regulated. I dont live in NC and can not control where my ex lives.
Re: Best and Worst States for Child Support
Since this is a curiosity question, I doubt anyone is going to go through each individual State for you, plugging in hypothetical numbers to tell you where you'd fare best.
You're of course free to do so yourself :)
Re: Best and Worst States for Child Support
I don't know caluculation wise, but NJ is by far the toughest state to enmanupate a child.
Re: Best and Worst States for Child Support
I know several parents who would argue that NY is much tougher when it comes to emancipating a child for the sake of child support ;)
Re: Best and Worst States for Child Support
True, but NY has law(s) stating that if a child doesn't put in an effort to stay in contact with CP the order can be closed. That why i give the edge to NJ, as being the tougher of the two. But you are right NY is pretty tough too (if not tougher). It no coincidence the two states share a lot in common. Funny part is PA which in next to NJ (30 minutes walking distance from my daughter's mother house) is probably one of the easiest. I wish I known that 21 year ago when I helped her get that house. Oh well. I am just glad it all over with.
