First Time Shoplifting Since Turning 18
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Arkansas
I just turned 18 a little less than a month ago.
i was caught shoplifting a video game and some hair dye in walmart.
i have shoplifted a few other times in the same one but i do not know if they have video of me doing it the other times, since they said that a cop told them i did it that time.
I am really scared of going to court because i am afraid that if they have those videos then im afraid i will go to jail for a few months.
it is my first time being caught since i turned 18.
ive been in trouble 1 other time for shoplifting when i was 15.
Does anyone think that i will go to jail this time. please help. im very scared right now.
Re: First Time Shoplifting Since Turning 18
I think you have good reason to be scared. That's a good thing. What you need to do is stop breaking the law and get a lawyer.
If you are indigent and can not afford a lawyer, ask for a public defender at your first court date (or if the police want to ask you questions).
It's unlikely that they'll charge you with older stuff at this point. However, it could very well affect any leniency the prosecution or the judge may wish to offer to you. Your best bet, keep your mouth shut, be respectful to those involved, and listen to your lawyer.

what are the chances of me being put in jail?
i have learned my lesson after this i am never doing anything illegal again.
i just dont want to have to go to jail for this.
