Sex Offender Getting Custody of Their Child
My question involves criminal law for the state of:Vermont
Can a sex offender in the state of Vermont get any type of custody of their children? An does the mother have any legal right to keep the child away from the father if they have not gone to court?
Re: Sex Offender Getting Custody of Their Child
What was the conviction, and when?
Are the parents married?

Re: Sex Offender Getting Custody of Their Child
Then Mom has virtually no chance of using his history against him.
The court expects Mom to exercise due diligence in selecting a potential father for her child/ren. Something that happened 7+ years ago is not going to prevent him from even getting FULL custody of his child, assuming the offense was not against a minor child.
With that said, Mom has no obligation to allow visitation without a court order in place.
