Vandalism Charges
My question involves criminal law for the state of: California
Hey, so I was arrested for Vandalism 594 PC im not too sure what the PC stands for. My story is this, I was arrested for throwing a chair in the air about 4-5 feet, it did not in fact do any damage besides to the chair itself, maybe a scratch or something along those line, it didnt break. The officers sat me down and began to question me, than arrested me. (never read me my miranda rights if that matters at all) I went to the local holding cell where I asked to talk to a lawyer, they did not respond to me and then took me to the county jail and I asked for a lawyer and they never allowed me to either( i had access to a phone for some of the time but did not know a number). All throughout the night the officers were accusing me of steroids and calling me short and harassing me, then later upon moving me into my own jail cell they shoved me on the ground and about 3-4 of them tackled me saying i was resisting when i was 100% cooperating (just to take off hand cuffs) they kneed me put me in a few hard arm bars hurting my rotator cuff pretty bad, afterwards saying they were tougher then me and my muscles. (Still hurts today, previously damaged and they aggravated it) I was kept in jail for 18 hours and then finally released. Upon being released they had to write me a new ticket because the officer did not cite me nor wrote a ticket from I heard/saw (it was not in the folder they had of me, but the other inmates that were with me had one. I know throwing the chair is considered vandalism but I do not want to have to pay a huge fine for such a small price.. Is there anything I can do? Or anyone know of how much the fine would be, and will this misdemeanor stay on my record or can i get it expunged.

Re: Vandalism Charges
You can talk to a criminal defense lawyer about what happened and form a strategy to move forward - depending upon the full facts and circumstances you might qualify for diversion or a deferral, or might be able to get some other more favorable disposition.
