Re: Emancipation in Idaho
Your friend will not qualify for emancipation.
Please read the other threads here - particularly the "sticky" thread/s on the forum.
If your friend is being abused, they should contact child services, speak to a school counselor or other adult or - if in immediate danger - call 911.
Emancipation is not meant to get kids out of bad situations. It's meant to help minors who, through no fault of their own, have found themselves having to support themselves fully and who need the legal ability to enter into contracts (lease, etc.,) in order to survive.
Re: Emancipation in Idaho
Courts EXPECT members of a family to contribute to the functioning of the household. She didn't earn the money that pays for the roof over her head, the electric bill, the water bill, the cable bill, the internet bill, her health insurance, and at her age, probably not the furniture in her bedroom, the food she eats, or the clothes she wears. if she thinks the courts will cringe that she's being asked to cook, clean, babysit younger siblings, do errands, or whatever else as HER portion of family existence, she has a very nasty reality check coming.
If there is actual physical abuse, she needs to be dialing 911 as soon as possible, or reporting to people outside the home who have a duty to help protect her, such as a school counselor.
