I'm Being Sued for a Teri Student Loan and I Have Already Bench Trial Set
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of:
I'm being sued for a private student loan. I answered the summons(beforehand I spoke to a bankruptcy lawyer after I recieved the summons). I answered the summons stating: verification of loan, verification of the lender b/c the Plaintiff is different than who I signed with and asked who the Plaintiff was( National Colligiate Trust)?. Anyway I just received a letter from the local county court with a date for a bench trial. What should I do now. I haven't hired a lawyer yet which is probably my next step, but I thought I had more time for the Plaintiff atty's to answer. What are my chances with this? I currently am unemployed, my husband doesn't make much and to top it all off I'm pregnant again so now no one will hire me. Help please! What are my chances?!?

If you feel that you are capable of representing yourself at a bench trial, you can attempt to do so. If not, you will want to consider settling or hiring a lawyer. If you have any viable pretrial motions to bring, either for relief from the debt or in relation to evidence or procedure, you'll want to bring them in a timely manner (or have your lawyer do so).
