Re: Public Urination Misdemeanor Charges
I asked an actual California court clerk to review your message. Her suggestion was that you use the potty next time.
Your record is not completely clean any more. Get used to it. There is no guarantee that you can scrub it at all - without a lawyer you haven't a prayer.
No, the reason everyone is telling you to get a lawyer is that it would be a bad idea. OF COURSE IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO CONSULT A LAWYER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!
Wake up and smell the coffee, sport. This is not a DIY project.

I entirely understand that nobody has guaranteed a reduction or a dismissal to me. What I want to know is simple. Is a reduction to the city ordinance a possible outcome for something like this? I have heard of people all of the time making a plea bargain to a lesser charge for much worse crimes, is this different?
Re: Public Urination Misdemeanor Charges
Why is this such a difficult concept for you? Do you suffer from reading comprehension problems?
Unless you get a lawyer, NO, it is not a possible outcome. With a lawyer, who knows?
Get. A. Lawyer. Or make up your mind that you are going to have a criminal record for the rest of your life. One or the other.
Your choice, sport.
Re: Public Urination Misdemeanor Charges
OP, you've got to understand - in some States (and granted, I cannot say for sure that yours is one), you could be charged with and convicted of a crime that would actually leave you having to register as a sex offender.
GET. A. LAWYER.
Re: Public Urination Misdemeanor Charges
You can get a reduction, but who knows other factors involved. is the city cracking down on public urination? Is the judge pissed off that people pee al over his town? Get a lawyer.
Re: Public Urination Misdemeanor Charges
Here in Utah we have plea in obeyance. It means that as long as you obey the laws and don't get into any more trouble, the courts are likely to drop it off your record completely. I would check this out where you live. And next time, plan ahead. Remember your mom asking you before you left the house...'did you use the bathroom?' :p

My record is completely clean. Is it a good idea to consult a lawyer as soon as possible? The cop said to wait until the charge is in the system but he wasn't much help. Also, he said I would receive something I'm the mail, what is that?
It is always a good idea to consult an attorney prior to court.
This is a misdemeanor and an attorney might be able to plead it down to avoid any jail time. Most likely, you will not go to jail for this anyway.
What the officer likely meant by the "something IN the mail" comment, was that you would receive a courtesy notice. However, this is rare in misdemeanor cases so I am not sure you will receive anything at all. Your citation was the notice to appear, so you need to show at the date and time and location indicated on the citation.
This is not likely to be a big deal. But, consulting an attorney prior to the arraignment (the first court date) might be a good idea.
Re: Public Urination Misdemeanor Charges
Ok, so after I get a lawyer, and hypothetically if I don't get a reduction, how easy is it to get the record expended in California. From what I understand its a pretty straight forward process and i will be eligible.

That's "abeyance" and California is a far cry from Utah.
