Shoplifting Caught at Nordstrom, California - No Police
My question involves criminal law for the state of: CALIFORNIA
A week ago, I was caught shoplifting at Nordstorm, CA. I am over 25 years old. I took 2 items total of $78 but they took them back. This is the first time I have ever caught shoplifting. The LPs did not call cops; just filed paperwork on me. They photographed my DL and the items I took. I signed the admonishment agreement, list of the items I took, and criminal trespass warning for 2 years. The LPs said within 10 days, I will receive a packaged which will be include civil demand fine. (still waiting ) How much fine will I have to pay? Can I pay my fine with money order?
I had shoplifted 3 times at different nordstorm and 2nd time in the same one; this is the first time I have ever caught. I am very much worrying about they are going to review their recorded type and look for me what I have done. Or I just have to deal with just these 2 items I took a week ago.
Are the cops gonna come to my house? However, in the admonishment agreement said “we have agreed not to refer you to the police for criminal prosecution at this time”.
I am currently looking for job. Will it be bad for my record? I already promised myself not to do it ever again. I felt hyperventilate while I got caught. I was all shaking and almost collaepse.
Thank you for your help. This has really been bothering me.
Re: Shoplifting Caught at Nordstrom, California - No Police
While it is the state (police, da) that decides if they are going to prosecute you, if Nordtrom doesn't tell them it didn't happen, this is going nowhere.
If Nordstrom reports to the National Retail Theft Database, you may have a hard time getting a job at other subscribing retailers.
