Landlord Gives Me 24 Hours to Get Rid of Dog
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Minnesota

Hello, I have been leasing a place from this guy for about a year, for the last 8 months I've had a pit bull, got him from a puppy. when I moved in the Landlord said pets were fine, no pet deposit required, they love dogs, ect. They live in California, but his brother does maintenece for him and comes by about 2-3 times a month to "check in".

This dog is very well trained and has never caused any issues. I think a neighbor just doesnt like me and called the landlord and said something about the dog being a terror. I got a voicemail saying "We heard you had a big dog at the house" and that I had 24 hours to get rid of my dog, and we need to talk about you paying a pet deposit for possible dammage.

I have a very basic lease, and I never signed anything stating I would not have a "Big Dog" they said pets were fine and never clarified it past that.

My question: Is it legal for them to make me give up the dog? If so don't they have to give me more time than 24 hours?

    Thanks for any help

The lease agreement has nothing whatsoever about pets or anything of the sort. The discussion has been compeltely Verbal

Also, what is the term of the lease? (Is it a one year lease, a month-to-month rental agreement, etc.)
