Divorce Uncontested New York State Hoopla
My question involves a marriage in the state of: New York

If there has been a legal separation for nearly 20 years, and both parties wish to get the official divorce decree, can't they go to the County courthouse together, show ID and sign some forms to end the marriage. Is it necessary to serve warrents and fill out all the paperwork when everything was settled in the separation and there are no minor children involved? Seems like legal overkill to me.
    thanks

Divorce is a legal process. You can't avoid going through the process, even if it's inconvenient or you think it shouldn't be necessary.
