    Public Drinking Laws in Illinois
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Illinois.

I received a ticket for public drinking/open container while standing on a sidewalk outside of my house (college campus). I was 23 at the time (24 at the moment). I got a $300 fine and paid it at my scheduled court date the very next month.

Is that considered a criminal offense? I am applying to a job and that is one of the questions, but I am not sure.

    Anyone can help me? Thanks!!

It is indeed a criminal offense, but is classed as a "petty offense" - essentially, a step above a traffic ticket.

Try not to fret too much about it. Specify what it was - something that minor does not automatically knock you out of the running for a job.
