18 Year Old Caught Shoplifting, First Offense
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida

My friend and I got caught shoplifting and the merchandise all together was under $150 for both of us.
We werent arrested but we were cited and given our court dates.
She is 20 and Im 18 and also 6 months pregnant. we're both 1st time offenders and I would just like to know what to expect so i can prepare for any possible fines or probation and (god forbid) jail time etc.

You can expect court costs and fines; Civil Demand from the store. If you can't afford a lawyer, then plead Not Guilty and ask for a Public Defender (there will be a cost for that).

    All in all, expect $1000+.

Do i really need the public defender though? i mean if im pleading guilty i dont see why i cant just accept the penalties on my own.
