Can You Be Charged With Child Abuse After Five Years
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Virginia
Three years ago I encountered a woman I had met briefly a few years before and she said she remembered me and that I had done something to her child, not sure what she was accusing but I informed her she had the wrong person and a mutual friend stepped in and confirmed "this isnt the girl that was messing with your son". A year later I did actually spend a day of gallavanting around town with her and her son and the "abuse/incident" was never mentioned again.

I recieve a voicemail today from her that her 9 year old son remembers what happened to him 5 years ago and she is going to the police and if they wont do anything that she will.

All the info I have is what I just posted, I dont know if she thinks I hit her son, spanked him, pulled his hair, drugged him, sexually assaulted him, not sure where she is going with this but my concern is how stressed should I be about it? I have a couple felonies on my record for white collar nothing messy and never any assault/battery and I am not fearful of being found guilty I am worried about all my dirty laundry from my past that I have worked hard to overcome muddying up the present and should I be expecting a full blown investigation based on what this kid said happened 5 years ago. I really just need a little advice on what to expect in the near future.

You know much more about this woman and the situation than we do. Depending on the allegations, charges are possible. If you believe that she's serious, you may want to consult a criminal defense lawyer - although without more information it's going to be difficult for anybody to advise you.
