Mistake on Continued Claim
My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: California
I have been receiving unemployment since January 2011. I am registered with a temp agency and have been receiving assignments at different locations. I have been claiming the assignments as my employer because that is what I understood to be correct all along. I have heard recently that this is wrong. Can I get in trouble? I have been reporting all work and wages accurately, just the employer part of it I think is wrong, or so I have heard. What should I do? I don't want to get into trouble.
Re: Mistake on Continued Claim
Why have you not gone to the dept of labor, unemployment office to find out how to report your earnings correctly? I doubt that coming forward would result in anything negative about your claims ... if they need adjustment they'll be adjusted.
Re: Mistake on Continued Claim
EDD is mostly concerned about your proper reporting of wages. If you do not submit corrected information then odds are you're going to have your situation investigated when they receive tax information at odds with what you've reported to them. I suggest contacting the EDD about correcting the information.
Re: Mistake on Continued Claim
thank you for the answer. when i went for my first eligiblity review, i asked the person that conducted the interview how to fill out this section because i wasn't sure, and they told me to list the place where i physically worked (assignment site). they said this is how they determine whether you are working part time for someone as opposed to temporary assignments for a temp agency. english was the second language for that person, so i am guessing this is where the confusion set in.
