U.K. Citizen with New Orleans Arrest Warrant Issued
    Hi
I have received a warrant issued for my arrest from New Orleans for being in contempt of court following a traffic citation issued in June 2002. The citation was for failing to yield - basically, at a crossroad I looked the wrong way (looked the way of UK traffic) and caused a minor crash. I have written to the New Orleans traffic court since 2002 explaining that I had no way of being able to pay - they would not accept a UK credit card in 2002 & not a personal check. As I had not heard from the traffic court for 9 years I presumed that the case was now closed until I received the warrant at my parents address last week. I now have a credit card and have entered the affidavit number into the traffic court payment site only to find that the number is invalid. I have today called the traffic court and after 20 minutes I ended up at someones voicemail as no one seemed to be able to help me. I have emailed again & written to them but have had no response. Since 2002 I have visited the US around 10 times, the latest being NY in April 11 and never had issues with access through homeland security and I have a valid ESTA travel visa, my worry is that I am due to visit Miami next month on vacation and dont want to be denied access to the country. Can anyone advise me on this and if the warrant is only valid in the state of LA or what my action should be?
    Many thanks

The warrant has whatever pickup radius it defines; we cannot investigate that for you, but for traffic warrants the pickup radius is usually pretty limited (e.g., 25 miles, 50 miles). I doubt that you will be denied entry over a warrant for a non-criminal traffic offense.

Why do you think your only options of payment are a personal check or credit card? Bank drafts work pretty well.

Because the affidavit number is invalid meaning that there is no valid way of paying, I have called repeatedly & written both a letter & three emails and have yet to receive any reply. Thank you for replying to my post - appreciate it

If there's an open court file and a warrant, there's a way to pay.
