Speeding ticket question in Ohio
I just got pulled over today for allegedly doing 65 in a 50 zone. First off the area of road I was allegedly speeding in is a 55, and secondly I was not speeding. The cop cited radar as the source of the reading, but I have a valentine 1 and not once did it even make one bleep, so I HIGHLY doubt he used radar to get me. The valentine may not save me all the time, but it always lets me know when I've been radard.
But that's beside the point because I know I wasn't speeding, the area where I was pulled over is NOTORIOUS for cops because it goes from a 55 to a 35 with little warning and cops love to sit there and pick people off because they slow down in time. I was approaching this 55-35 switch so I was slowing down so that I wouldn't get gunned in this changeover. Is it worth contesting the ticket to try to get it thrown out or perhaps moved down to some sort of non-moving violation that wont go on my ticket, or is it hopeless? I figure even if I go in there and just correct them on the speed limit and the cop still doesn't tell the truth about my speed, 65 in a 55 doesn't sound nearly as bad as 65 in a 50. Suggestions?

I also have a Valentine 1. Maybe the police car was equipted with a newer fequency radar gun.
One thing that is important is your present record. If your record is good, a lot of magistrates/judges will bring the charge down to "impeding traffic" if you plead guilty. "Impeding traffic" has no points and will stay off your record, but there is a fine.
