Was I "Caught" Shoplifting
A man I suppose (an lp) approached me after leaving a fittingroom because he found two tags in there and said to me something about them being in my purse. I said I didn't have them. He Asked me a couple of times and I answered the same. He asked my age and if I shop there a lot (I am over 18 and I told him occasionally) he then told me I can finish my shopping and he would review tapes. I checked out my other things and left. He didnt take my info or pic not sure if anyone saw my car and cops were not called while I was there.
So I am not sure if I was actually considered "caught"..
If after reviewing tapes is there a way I could still be charged?
What should I be expecting?
Re: Was I "Caught" Shoplifting
The first question is....did you shoplift?
Re: Was I "Caught" Shoplifting
If you didn't do anything why would there be something on the tape to charge you with?

Re: Was I "Caught" Shoplifting
Then you probably got away with it but I can promise you they put your picture up to be on the look out for... do yourself a favor and don't go back or give up stealing
Re: Was I "Caught" Shoplifting
Clearly you were caught, but with some ambiguity as to whether they could make a case against you stick. If you want to know if your theft will trigger a criminal charge, all you can do is wait and see.
Re: Was I "Caught" Shoplifting
Thanks so much. I hope that's the case. I will be avoiding both that place and stealing! It scared me s'''less to say the least! I hope this guilt and fear is punishment enough because it's pretty awful!
What does a criminal charge ensue?
Re: Was I "Caught" Shoplifting
First offense is normally fines and probation.
Re: Was I "Caught" Shoplifting
I'd gladly pay a fine if it will relieve this feeling at least a little. So I'd at least know it's over with...
Re: Was I "Caught" Shoplifting
If you ever have the urge to shoplift again, know that the fines can easily run atleast $1000. And make it difficult to find a job.
