Worried About Renew F1 Visa and Re-Entry the U.S
Hello. I am writing this on behalf of my brother. He has been a student on F1 visa. Last year, around Nov. He was caught shoplifting in NYC for something worth of 2 dollars. He was 21 year old at that time. The security guy took his ID information, but police was not called and he did not get any court ticket. The security just told him to not do it again, and let him go. It has been more than half a year, and he has never heard back from the store or police or court. Now he is back in his home country for summer vacation, and wants to come back to the U.S. to continue his study. He asked me to research here to see how much he should be worried about renewing his visa and coming back to the U.S. He was very sure that the police was not called, and no court ticket, even no civil demand.
    Thanks a lot.

If neither the police nor the courts were involved, then there's no arrest, charge, prosecution or conviction.
